Athlete Bio
Ashley Lau is among the best golfers in Michigan Wolverines history. She was the 2022 Big Ten Golfer of the Year, leading Michigan to a Big Ten Championship and advancement out of their NCAA Regional, held at the UM Golf Course. Her four career individual wins are the best in program history. Lau currently competes primarily on the Epson Tour, the second-tier women’s tour behind the LPGA. She recently won her first professional event, the Victorian Open in Australia.
Lau is currently ranked 279th in the world. Bids are awarded in Olympic golf by world ranking, however, only the top two from each nation can be invited (with an exception for the top 15, there is a four-athlete limit if you have more than two in the top 15). As such, her world ranking was 50th best among golfers from countries that did not already have two competitors, and she’s going to Paris.
