Athlete Bio
Abby Tamer is currently a captain on the Michigan field hockey team. Tamer took an Olympic redshirt in 2023, competing exclusively for the national team, and will return to the Wolverines this fall. Tamer scored twice for the United States at the Olympic qualifiers, including the game winning goal v. Japan in the semifinals that clinched Olympic qualifying. (Having already qualified, the US would go on to lose the final.) At Michigan, Tamer was Michigan’s second-leading scorer in 2022, helping the team to the Big Ten Tournament Championship.
The United States is currently ranked 13th in the world, the fifth-best ranking in their six-team group. They will likely need at least one upset to advance to the knockout stage.
